What To Expect For a Psychological Assessment

Intake Appointment I will meet with the child’s caregiver(s) to gather information about the child’s life and current concerns. We will discuss the desired goals and questions to be answered through the assessment process. The first meeting will take approximately 1 1/2 hours.

Psychological Testing Sessions The child and a caregiver will typically attend 1-2 psychological testing sessions. Each session will take approximately 2-3 hours.

Review of Records I ask that caregivers provide relevant documentation to help in the assessment process. This may include report cards, previous evaluations and relevant health records.

Consultation If indicated, I can connect with teachers, therapists and other relevant individuals in the child’s life to gather additional information and/or documentation.

Scoring, interpretation and report writing After scoring and interpreting all administered assessments I will generate a detailed and individualized report.

Feedback Session After all the information has been gathered and testing has been completed, I will meet with caregivers to review the results of the assessment and discuss recommendations. A written report will be provided that includes individualized recommendations. The final digital copy of the evaluation report will be provided after the feedback session is complete. This session will take approximately 1 hour.
